Aruba Mobile Redesign

Aruba Mobile

Aruba S.p.A. is an Italian company that offers web hosting, e-mail and domain name
registration services. In addition to domain registration, Aruba offers e-mail services,
connectivity, dedicated servers, virtual private server, certified e-mail services

The challenge

The project starts from the desire to make the Aruba services available in the mobile
world and to provide timely assistance in the purchase of these services. Among the
services analyzed are the purchase of hosting and domains, Cloud, Datacenter and PEC.

The solution

The design solution is a redesign of a mobile experience with the creation of a single app
that allows the user to register new domains, manage their domains, manage your PEC
mailbox and email.

Design Process

Design Thinking
Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to
integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.
Consisting of 5 steps—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. Design thinking is useful in
tackling problems that are ill-defined or unknown.

The problem

Old experience mobile

The services were accessible from mobile only through the website The page contained two menus in the top bar. Just below, the section to register or transfer a domain divided by little tabs. The selection pack page and the cart page was not responsive.

3 Different personas

The personas need to manage the aruba services via mobile in a simple and quick way. Terry is a photographer who often works outside and needs to create his own website, Patrick who is in charge of a digital agency and wants to check the subscription of his clients’ websites. Finally Christian, CEO of an energy company that wants to invest in the Cloud.

First Prototype

Paper prototype

I created a low fidelity prototype to structure the application flow. I replaced the buttons with some post-it in some parts of the prototype so I have the possibility to change the position and the screen quickly and remodel the prototype.

Mid-Fi Prototype

Testing and implementation

From the low fidelity prototype I moved to design a prototype in medium fidelity to test the specific features of the application.I tested and observed the interactions of users and I asked them to speak loudly while describing their actions. After each interview I debriefed the feedback received.

Screenflow helps me to understand complex interactions where the content or layout is changing on a few pages. This tool was useful to ensure consistency between the path to be followed and the visual response of the system.

It also helped me to monitor that the visual style of the different screens is consistent throughout the flow.

Final prototype

Hi-Fidelity Prototype

In the choice of the domain it’s possible to visualize clearly which are available and them. In the selection of the domains there will be the main domains (.it and .com) immediately highlighted. When choosing the domain, or another service, you can select the pack, know the details and add it to the cart.
